Care Instructions
The Point of Vachetta
Vachetta is meant to change. It darkens with time, softens at the folds, and records where your hands rest. That’s patina—proof of use, not wear-and-tear to avoid.
Expect variation. Expect marks. They’re part of the material’s honesty.
What to expect (and what not to fight)
Tone shift: light leather warms and deepens with sunlight and handling.
Scuffs and scratches: most soften into the surface over time.
Ink, graphite, paint: it happens. Often it stays. It's part of the charm..
Water: a few drops may spot and then mellow; a soak is different. (don't do that.)
CONDITIONING
Vachetta doesn’t need constant product. Condition when the leather feels dry, looks thirsty, or after a season of heavy use.
What to use
A leather conditioner, applied with a natural material buffer (soft cotton cloth works well).
- How to apply
Test in a discreet spot first. Conditioner can deepen tone.
Use a small amount. Less than you think.
Work it in with light pressure, then buff off any excess.
Let it rest before handling.
DAILY HANDLING
Store flat or upright like a book. Don’t compress it under heavy stacks (except to train it at the start if it isn't yet lying flat.)
Keep away from prolonged heat (dashboard, radiator, direct sun for hours).
If it gets dusty, wipe with a clean, dry cloth.
That’s the routine.
If you want a cover that stays pristine, Vachetta will feel dramatic. If you want a cover that keeps receipts of your life, it’s perfect.
A NOTE ON COLOR
Hand-dyed leather can shift with light, oils, and handling. That’s normal. Conditioner may deepen color, especially on lighter hides. Always patch test if you’re unsure.
